RD bentonite flocculant is a water treatment agent made from bentonite as the main raw material through a special process. Bentonite is a clay mineral mainly composed of montmorillonite, with good adsorption, expansion, and cation exchange properties. These characteristics make bentonite flocculants excel in water treatment.
Mechanism of Action
● Adsorption bridging: The montmorillonite particles in the bentonite flocculant can adsorb suspended particles in the water, connecting these particles together through their own polymer chains to form larger flocs, thereby accelerating particle sedimentation.
● Charge neutralization: Colloidal particles in water usually carry a certain charge, repelling each other and maintaining a stable dispersed state. Bentonite flocculants can neutralize the charges of these colloidal particles, causing them to lose stability and aggregate together to form precipitates.
Product Advantages
● High-efficiency flocculation: It has a strong flocculation ability for suspended matter and colloids in various wastewater, quickly clarifying the water, reducing turbidity, and achieving significant treatment effects.
● Wide adaptability: It can adapt to wastewater with different pH ranges, exhibiting good flocculation effects in acidic, neutral, and alkaline wastewater. It also has a certain treatment capacity for wastewater from various industries, such as dyeing wastewater, papermaking wastewater, and electroplating wastewater.
● Environmental friendliness and safety: Bentonite is a natural mineral. Compared with some chemically synthesized flocculants, it has lower toxicity and does not introduce excessive harmful chemicals during the treatment process. The treated sludge is also easy to dispose of later.
● Cost advantage: Bentonite resources are abundant, and the raw material cost is relatively low. The flocculant produced through reasonable processing can reduce wastewater treatment costs for enterprises while ensuring treatment effectiveness.
Usage
● Dissolution: Generally, the bentonite flocculant is prepared into an aqueous solution of a certain concentration (such as 0.5%-1%), stirred evenly to ensure complete dissolution. Mechanical stirring or hydraulic stirring can be used. The stirring time depends on the dissolution situation, usually around 30 minutes.
● Dosage: According to the water quality and treatment volume of the wastewater, the prepared flocculant solution is added to the wastewater through metering pumps and other equipment. The dosage needs to be determined based on on-site experiments. Reaction: After adding the flocculant, the wastewater needs to be thoroughly stirred or mixed to allow the flocculant to fully contact and react with the impurities in the wastewater. The reaction time is generally 15-30 minutes to promote the formation and growth of flocs.
● Sedimentation and separation: After the reaction, allow the wastewater to settle, allowing the formed flocs to settle to the bottom, and then separate the sediment from the supernatant through filtration, centrifugation, or other methods to obtain relatively clear treated effluent.
Application Areas
● Industrial wastewater treatment: It is widely used in wastewater treatment in the textile dyeing, papermaking, food processing, petrochemical, and metallurgical industries, effectively removing pollutants such as chroma, suspended solids, and chemical oxygen demand (COD) from wastewater.
● Municipal wastewater treatment: It can be used as an auxiliary agent in the treatment of municipal sewage, improving wastewater treatment efficiency, improving effluent quality, and helping to achieve the standard discharge and reuse of wastewater.
